Household Waste Separation Behavior Of Urban Community Residents Influencing Factors And Suggestions For Countermeasures

The issue of urban waste siege has become a critical concern in urban management,as urbanisation and economic growth rapidly increase the gravity of the problem.The dilemma of "rubbish encircling the city" can be solved by separating waste,fostering good environmental habits among its inhabitants,and encouraging a transformation in production methods.Constructing a governance system of shared building,governance and sharing,and advancing ecological civilization-these are the objectives.This thesis adopted the literature research method,questionnaire survey,and interview survey,as well as other theories such as planned behavior,externality,and collaborative governance,in its formulation.After a thorough comprehension of the current household garbage classification regulations and procedures in Q District,400 questionnaires were distributed and 7 individuals were questioned.The data underwent differentiation analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis with the aid of SPSS17.0 software,and the primary determinants of residents’ garbage classification behavior were determined to be:residents’.The sense of self for the categorization of household rubbish,the "beneficial" impact from the public,and the inhabitants’ knowledge of the classification of their garbage;these are all integral components.The government’s main emphasis is on publicizing and providing direction,as well as imposing penalties.In terms of the influence direction,from the internal factors of residents,the higher the residents’ subjective willingness and sense of identity to household garbage classification,the greater the frequency and future possibility of implementing household garbage classification.The higher the subjective standard degree of household garbage classification,the greater the frequency and future possibility of implementing household garbage classification.From the perspective of the government and society,correct publicity and guidance,appropriate punishment measures,certain reward standards and the whole chain of household waste classification and recycling services will increase residents’ participation in household waste classification.However,perfect household garbage sorting facilities have little influence on residents’ household garbage sorting behavior.In addition,there are government policies and regulations on household waste classification in Q district to be improved;Lack of effective economic means;Lack of depth and breadth of publicity;Lack of professional full-time management personnel;Marketization is not deep enough and so on.Based on this,the following countermeasures are proposed to optimise waste separation in Q District: mobilising residents’ initiative in waste separation;cultivating residents’ habits in waste separation;widening the publicity channels for waste separation;optimising the reward and punishment system for waste separation;and improving the diversified participation pattern for waste separation.
