| With the rapid improvement of China’s rural economic level, rural residents in the way of life, consumption habits and other aspects have also produced greater changes, which makes the number of domestic waste has risen sharply, the growth rate is accelerating year by year, and the composition of increasingly complex. The phenomenon of disorderly garbage piling, throwing everywhere and surrounding the village around the dam happens from time to time.Nowadays, waste separation and management is a proven method to realize waste reduction, resourcefulness and harmlessness.Sorting and recycling of rural domestic waste is not only the best way to alleviate the problem of rural domestic waste, but also important for building a beautiful and ecologically livable countryside and realizing the rural revitalization strategy. As rural residents are important implementers of domestic waste separation behavior,it is beneficial to explore the formation mechanism of their domestic waste separation behavior from the perspective of internal psychology and external context to promote the effective implementation of domestic waste separation policies and measures for rural residents.Based on the theory of planned behavior, the theory of values-beliefs-norms,and the theory of attitude-context-behavior,this study uses descriptive analysis to understand the current situation of rural residents’ willingness and behavior to separate household waste in Jiangxi Province. Finally,a hierarchical regression model was used to further examine the inhibitory or facilitative effects of external situational factors on the conversion of rural residents’ willingness to separate garbage into actual behavior. The results of the study showed that, firstly, according to the results of the descriptive analysis, there were some deviations between the willingness and behavior of rural residents to separate household waste.Second, according to the results of structural equation modeling, attitudes, perceived behavioral control, altruistic values,self-interest values, and environmental responsibility all have different degrees of significant effects on rural residents’ willingness to separate household waste, and the willingness to separate household waste positively affects the actual behavior of rural residents. Finally, from the results of the hierarchical regression model, the moderating effects of implementation cost,command-and-control and education policy instruments on the willingness to separate household waste and behavior were significantly different.Combining the empirical results with the actual situation, this study proposes policy recommendations to promote the implementation of domestic waste separation behavior in rural areas in the following three aspects: first,to improve the level of perceived behavioral control of domestic waste separation among rural residents, and to reasonably adjust the implementation cost of domestic waste separation behavior to strengthen the environmental awareness of rural residents.Second, help rural residents establish a positive attitude toward domestic waste separation, guide the formation of rural residents’ sense of environmental responsibility and values, and gradually cultivate rural residents’ self-awareness.Third,we should improve the incentive and restraint mechanisms of the domestic waste separation system for rural residents, build a diverse policy promotion system, and make a good "combination" of policy tools. |
