Residents’ Participation In Rural Toilet Renovation Analysis Of Influencing Factors

The "toilet problem" in rural areas of China has been widely criticized.Toilet renovation in rural areas is not only the key to the improvement of rural living environment,but also an important aspect to realize the "rural revitalization strategy".Therefore,hebei provincial governments at all levels are also committed to improving the sanitation of rural toilets and actively promoting the local rural "toilet revolution".Although rural toilet renovation is a government-led project,the participation enthusiasm of residents largely determines the effect of toilet renovation.At the same time,the toilet renovation is based on the household,but the participation enthusiasm of each family member will also affect the family decision-making.In the process of the rural toilet renovation project in Hebei Province,there are problems that the rural residents’ subjective participation enthusiasm is not high and participation is generally low.Therefore,in view of the significance of participation enthusiasm of rural residents in the toilet renovation and the low participation status,it is particularly important to explore ways and countermeasures to improve the participation of rural residents and promote the smooth progress of rural toilet renovation in view of the factors affecting the participation of rural residents.This study first collected,sorted out and commented the literature related to rural toilet renovation in recent years.Then using the theory of planned behavior,behavioral cognition and attitude behavior as well as the existing relevant research,the research hypothesis is proposed.Secondly,a three-stage stratified survey was conducted on the residents of 11 districts in Anguo City of Hebei province by means of questionnaires,and a large amount of effective data was obtained.On this basis,the relevant variables are designed according to the existing research and research contents,and the factors affecting the residents’ participation in the process of rural toilet renovation are empiricized by using the multiple regression model,and the research hypothesis is tested.The conclusion is that there is a significant correlation between the residents’ personal characteristics and their participation.In addition,the participation cognition of residents and the moderating effect of neighborhood relationship and participation cognition are also significantly correlated with the participation of rural residents in toilet renovation.Thirdly,the effective variables of empirical results are simulated on Anylogic simulation platform to improve residents’participation.Finally,according to the simulation conclusion targeted put forward the countermeasures and Suggestions,from the residents to participate in raising their own quality,protect the rights of residents to participate in government and collaborative group participation,strengthen policy dividend perceptual and explore potential generation continued to participate in five aspects to adjust,can effectively improve the rural residents’ participation in the compost toilets.There are two main innovations in this study:First,from the perspective of research content,it is the first time to analyze the problems related to rural toilet renovation from the perspective of residents’ participation,which is conducive to expanding the research perspective of relevant studies.Second,from the perspective of research methods,the effective variables of empirical analysis were simulated by using Anylogic simulation platform,which enhanced the feasibility of countermeasures and suggestions.
