Abstract/Summary:
This study evaluated a website for health professionals, http://www.audiology.org, focusing on interface design and usability. A heuristic evaluation was conducted, along with user testing. Participants were selected and user profiles were created for professionals chosen from the field of audiology. Users were asked to complete ten tasks and data were collected using a think aloud protocol, along with subjective satisfaction surveys. While user performance varied, frustration levels were observed and some tasks were not completed, suggesting that the interface might be improved by restructuring the information architecture and enhancing the interface. While the site was found to be moderately high in terms of usability, differences in user experiences may be explained based on internal and external characteristics. A set of guidelines and recommendations was created to improve the usability and interface of the website.
