The Research Of University Portal Interface Usability Design

The University portal site plays an important part of information construction of collegesand universities, which is an important window in many fields that the outer societyunderstand the university culture, scientific research, teaching, and service. Study on theusability design of the university portal website interface, which can optimize the websiteinterface structure, reduce the construction cost, improve site quality and user satisfaction,and be conducive to the improvement of the whole social image, promote mutual exchangesand cooperation between the University and the social from all walks of life.The paper is takes the30university portal website of Heilongjiang Province as the objectof the research, making the research by using the relationship between universities and theInternet as the breakthrough point.On the basis of the integration of existing theory, this article analyzes that universityportal websites have three main communication functions: the heritage of university campusculture, the communication of domestic and foreign academic knowledge, the discovery andcultivation of talented persons. The analysis is achieved from three perspectives of universitybasic functions: the cultivation of talents, the innovation of knowledge and the service forsociety. Through the analysis, four deficiencies have been found: the lack of vibration incolumn structure of interface design, the lack of consideration in humanization of layoutdesign, the lack of support from professional team, the lack of attention in backstagemanagement.From the perspective of the users of university portal website, this article analyzes themode of thinking and the characteristic of behavior belonged to the common users. Thenthrough the questionnaire survey research on users of university portal website, this articleconcludes the different behavior characteristics between university portal website users andother website users, also constructs two kinds of user role mode: students and faculty.Through30university portal websites from82universities in Heilongjiang province,this article researches and analyzes the usability factors from three aspects: informationstructure design, interaction design and visual design which influence the interface of website.Then the weighted arithmetic mean method is used to establish the usability data model, thisarticle concludes7important index which influence the usability design of university portal website interface: the design of column architecture, the organization of information, thecharacteristics of graphics elements, the design of interactive platform, the use of multimedia,the lead function of language, the font size and the line spacing.Based on the GongXue website design of Harbin Engineering University, this articlecompares the website interface index between before and after version of the website andanalyzes the data to test the usability of the after version, on the basis of the important indexwhich influence the usability design, the data comparison and analysis is used to test thevalidity and feasibility of the index.
