The Study And Application Of 3D Information Visualization In Website Usability Analysis

There are many information shows many of exist web have usability problem. Collecting web usability problem is very useful to improve web design. Traditional usability evaluation sometimes is not practical because of mass information in website and so many website users. But using tools to help usability analyst find usability problem can overcome some of this shortages. 3D information visualization can efficiently display website structure and user browsing activity data. So, we apply 3D information visualization into web usability analysis. First, we review some exist web 3D information visualization tools; Second, we describe the realization of WebVis, our web 3D information visualization tool, in detail. WebVis displays website structure in Cone Tree layout, and adds analysis result and user browsing activity data to that layout. We also design many interaction methods to help usability analyst and web designer understand the information well; Third, we make a thinking aloud usability testing to our tools. We find some problem of WebVis through testing, and we also find that user can understand our visualization well, and efficiently use interaction methods we provided to help understanding; At last, we use WebVis to analysis DLMU Network Center website with 1 month log file. We find some usability problem of DLMU Network Center through the analysis.
