Abstract/Summary:
In mobile ad-hoc Networks (MANETS), selection of the routing protocol has a significant effect on the network performance as it determines the battery life, bandwidth and the energy depletion of the nodes in the network. The current project presents the results of performance evaluation and comparisons between two protocols: the Optimised Link State Routing (OLSR), a proactive protocol, and the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), a reactive protocol. The performance and comparisons are evaluated in terms of average energy consumption, end-to-end delay, average throughput and normalized routing load. Simulation results have been obtained using the network simulator NS2 and conclusions regarding the performance of the two protocols under different load conditions are presented.
