Abstract/Summary:
This thesis presents new algorithms to reduce sampling jitter in Fourier transform spectrometers. Sampling jitter is caused by three main sources: the use of distinct temporal filters in each channel of the instrument (infrared and reference), the presence of laser noise (RIN, phase noise, etc.) and detection noise and the presence of position fluctuations in the scanning mechanism. We show a fast time sampling approach that uses digital algorithms, either deterministic or statistical, in order to reduce the contribution from each noise source. These algorithms are detailed in three steps: the adaptive equalization of the instrument's channels, the parametric estimation of the position fluctuations from laser's phase and the domain transposition in order to position sample the infrared signal using the laser's phase.
