Abstract/Summary:
This thesis, discusses the modification ability of a femtoseond laser irradiation at 400 nm in transparent materials embedded with CuBr. Using intense, very short pulse, laser pulses, a poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) thin film embedded with CuBr was modified through nonlinear absorption. The fabrication method of PMMA films embedded with CuBr, area modification using a femtosecond laser, and the transition of absorbance peaks are described. The growth of semiconductor nanocrystals using a direct scanning technique with a femtosecond laser is investigated. Also the effects of writing parameters such as translation speed, laser power, scanning period and the number of over scans are discussed. UV-Vis absorption spectra showed that position (wavelength) and height of two distinctive peaks from modified PMMA films were increased according to the number of pulse strokes per unit area. The transition of the absorbance peaks according to the writing parameter is discussed.
