With the rapid development of electronic technology, embedded system has become one of the hot topics in modern society. It is broadly used in industrial equipments and home appliances. In nowadays, the photoelectric detection technology is developing towards miniaturization, intelligence and high efficiency direction. In this paper, we do lots research about laser scanning detection technology based on embedded system, and make a perfect combination of scanning detection technology and modern computer technology. In this system, AVR is used to be the primary controller. By controlling the scanning optical system, photoelectric receiving devices, electronics system and micro computer, the beams, which carries the information of the diameter of measured work piece can be received, transformed and processed. With all these work the diameter of the work piece can be measured precisely.The scanning system with the characteristic of miniaturization and intelligence has been designed successfully in this paper. The basic detection principle of the system is discussed, and the scanning speed of the rotating mirror has been analysed. After which the design of scanning beam shaping is provided. This paper also proposes the design scheme of the circuit and software of the detection system. From the experiments we can see. the error of the system can be controlled in±2μm.
