The Research On Third-party Logistics Services Provider Selection For Timber Importing

Since 2017,the commercial logging of the natural forests has been completely stopped in China.On this basis,Chinese timber import activities have been increasingly frequent,leading to unsatisfactory price of raw material in the timber market and cost of timber import logistics,as well as the high manufacturing costs of timber industry enterprises.In this paper,the evaluation indices of the selection on the best timber import third-party logistics service providers is constructed.And the DEA-Topsis two-stage selection model is established,which can reduce the cost of timber import logistics,improve logistics efficiency and increase the overall competitiveness of enterprises.For the above contents in this paper,firstly,literature analysis method,questionnaire method,field research method,empirical analysis method are used to carry out the related research work.By analyzing references about the present situation of timber import,static two-stage evaluation selection process status of timber import,the selection process of two-stage evaluation of timber logistics,the construction of evaluation index system and the selection method of third-party logistics enterprises,the research situation of domestic and foreign scholars on the selection of third-party logistics service providers for timber imports is learned.On this basis,the particularity of the timber import industry and the professionalism of third-party logistics services is studied.According to the particularity of timber import,innovative evaluation indices such as international agent coverage,customs declaration and inspection efficiency,ship agency service level and rationality of import scheme are put forward.On the other hand,in view of the specialty of logistics service of third-party logistics enterprises,six logistics evaluation indices are put forward,which are comprehensive capability,delivery capacity,storage capacity,wood handling capacity,transportation capacity and information service capacity.Among them,the reliability test is carried out by SPSS to screen the evaluation indices.Moreover,the DEA-Topsis two-stage model is used for third-party logistics service provider evaluation selection Before selection,the raw data is normalized to eliminate interference from variable dimensions.The DEA model emphasizes the overall efficiency of third-party logistics service providers and the Topsis model uses entropy weight method to objectively assign weights to evaluation index,making the evaluation results more objective and scientific.Finally,taking a home furnishing enterprise as an example,the index system and two-stage selection model constructed in this paper are used to successfully help the enterprise select scientific third-party logistics service providers and realize the demand of transporting timber raw materials from Peru to China.The empirical results show that the evaluation indices and selection method established in this paper have certain rationality and practicability,and have a good guiding significance for later scholars to study timber import related activities.At the same time,it can help Chinese timber industry enterprises to select third-party logistics service providers scientifically and effectively.Consequently,the Chinese timber industry enterprises can change from passive to active in market competition,and their competitive advantages can be improved,as well as the healthiness on the development of timber industry enterprises.
