Research On The Social Memory Attributes Of Library Functions

Social memory is an important medium for human being to become a continuous whole.Since its birth,library has the function of preserving human historical and cultural heritage.The social memory is unstable.Under the influence of the development of the times and the continuous advancement of the technology,some of the social memory has gone to decline and die out.The human social memory always needs the corresponding carrier to be preserved in the dissemination until it becomes a continuous system,which is precisely the reason for the emergence of the literature.When the academic circles of library put forward the argument that library has the function of memory,the social memory attribute of library function is gradually displayed in front of the public.To study the social memory attribute of library function is to define the library as the external organization of human brain memory function,and the main element of the interaction between library function and social memory is literature,which is the basic work of library.The material subject which plays the basic function is also the material carrier carrying the social memory.Through the study of related materials such as philology,sociology,semiotics and so on,and through the recording forms and transmission modes of social activities and historical culture in different historical periods,the material presentation forms of social memory are traced back to the source.It is concluded that the literature is one of the materialized forms of social memory,which provides a new research perspective and theoretical support for the study of the attributes of social memory in library functions.Based on the literature management of library,this paper discusses the isomorphic relationship between library and social memory while giving full play to its functions.Taking the three working links of library to play its basic function as a starting point,this paper probes into the way of library function with memory attribute from the aspects of literature collection,literature arrangement and literature dissemination.
