For our country,2017 is the year of the rise of content payment.It is known that new media platforms such as We Chat,Weibo and some We media,have started to use content payment.But in the field of news,attempts of content payment have already begun.For example,in the 1990 s,the Wall Street journal,the New York Times began to try the "pay walls" mode,it is the earliest news content payment.While in China,the earliest news payment practice was in April 2007,Wenzhou network,the nation's first paid subscription "digital newspapers" officially launched,which is a subsidiary of the Wenzhou Daily newspaper group.Under the background of the decline of traditional newspaper,the advertising revenue of the newspaper is seriously declining,and the news media are looking for new ways of making profits.Also the European and American newspapers' nearlly 30 years of pay model practice can provide inspiration for the domestic media.However,there is relatively little research on news payment in China,and most studies are about the development history of European and American news pay modles,or learn their successful payment model.Lacking further analysis of the news payment model's profitability,the principal causes of profit,and the social problems happened in the process of development.At the outbreak period of the domestic content payment,if we blindly imitated the foreign news payment model directly,it may not acclimatized.Therefore,before learning,it is necessary to find out whether the payment of news in Europe and America is more beneficial to the development of the newspaper or not.This article will study the content paid practice of European and American traditional newspaper industry news,sort out the development of European and American news paywall,and then further analyzing the New York Times and the Financial Times these two successful cases.The paper will mainly explore four problems faced by European and American news content payment : profit problems,social problems,sustainable problems and future trend of the news pay modle,and the news pay modle 's reference value for our country.To measure the value of European and A merican news pay model for our country news media.At the outbreak period of domestic content payment,studying the payment of news content in Europe and America has a profound and far reaching significance for the development of domestic media.
