Under the general trend of media transformation and development,China’s traditional media is eager to find a way out.The Western International Daily,represented by The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times,has successfully solved the development dilemma by erecting the news “ pay wall ” and became the banner of the transformation and development of the world newspaper industry.The “pay wall” is therefore regarded as a rescue.The media’s "life-saving straw".There is also a lack of attempts by the Chinese media to pay for news.Around 2007,many domestic media,including the People’s Daily,tried to raise the wall for digital content,but in the end they all ended up in abundance,partly because the market was not mature and the audience did not pay.At the moment,the domestic knowledge payment market is in the ascendant,but the news payment is very much like a “hot potato”.Everyone wants to eat,but I don’t know where to go.Under the circumstance of being questioned,the Chinese media has started a new round of trials on the “paywall”.Among them,Caixin Media has been the first to make a thorough attempt to pay for news.It has been more than a year.In this paper,the author starts with the concept of news payment.By studying the articles of domestic and foreign scholars about “paywall” and news payment,the news payment is questioned,but it is the inevitable trend of the future development of the news industry.In this paper,the author selects China’s first all-platform fee-based media,Caixin Media,as an example to analyze the case,focusing on several questions: caixin media’s news payment model;What are the implications of caixin’s payment model for other media in China? Paid or free,where does news go from here? Key factors for media to implement news payment.The author believes that news payment means that the commercialization of news products is determined by the role of production factors in value production and the value law of labor creation value.For the media,news payment is not simply to open up a profit channel,but also to the deconstruction and reconstruction of the media profit model,which will ultimately affect the transformation of the internal institutional mechanisms of the media.However,news payment is not applicable to all media.Whether it is the success of the New York Times or Caixin Media’s “paywall” model,it must have the necessary elements for the success of the media itself.Although Caixin Media’s comprehensive payment implementation time is not long,the paid revenue has not achieved immediate results,but the construction of Caixin’s paid marketing system has been relatively mature,and its implementation is strong,the scale of operation is large,and the pace is firm.The construction of the all-media era will become the benchmark for the new model of media transformation and media profit,or it will detonate a new wave of news payment in China.
