Research On The “Belt And Road” Reporting Framework Of The Party Newspapers In The Five Northwestern Provinces

This study selected reports on the“Belt and Road Initiative" from September 1,2013 to August 31,2017 in the five provinces of Shaanxi Province,Shaanxi Daily,Gansu Daily,Ningxia Daily,Qinghai Daily,and Xinjiang Daily.With the help of the news framework as a theoretical analysis tool,the framework of the "One Belt and One Road" report of the five provincial party newspapers was investigated to clarify the differences and similarities between the five provincial party newspapers’ reporting framework and the five provincial party newspaper reporting frameworks.This study studies the“One Belt and One Road" reports of the five provincial party newspapers from both macro and micro perspectives.On the macro level,this study examines the volume of reports on the“One Belt and One Road" report by the five provincial party newspapers,the thematic framework of the report,the source of the news,and the tone of citation and reporting.In terms of the amount of reports,the reports of the five provinces in the northwest were relatively few,and the reported amount was completely out of balance."Shaanxi Daily" reports on the "One Belt and One Road" are relatively positive among the five provinces,while the remaining four provinces have a relatively small amount of reports.Media reports are generally lagging behind.In the framework of the theme,the five provincial party newspapers focus on the economic development thematic framework.The reports involving social public affairs are seriously absent.The coverage of the topics is relatively ambitious,and the people’s livelihood is poorly affiliated.However,the five provinces have made progress on the theme framework.The political reporting theme has gradually weakened.In terms of sources,each of the five provinces has a different bias."Shaanxi Daily" is biased towards elite groups.The newspapers of the other four provinces are biased towards higher level party newspapers.After analyzing the associations of sources and discourse citations,it is found that the five provincial party newspapers have a source who provides information,and who speaks.It is easy to be quoted in the trend.The five provinces reflect a consistent trend in the tone of the report,that is,adopt a positive report tone.In terms of microcosmic aspects,the author conducted research and analysis of the reports of the five provincial party newspapers in terms of frequency and title,and found that the frequency of key words in the five provinces is basically the same,and the words with high frequency are mainly divided into economic vocabulary and objective descriptive vocabulary.There are three major categories of emotionally inclined vocabulary.In terms of titles,the five provincial party newspapers have changed their style of reporting in the past and used rhetorical devices to increase their liveliness.Moreover,the five provincial party newspapers have a certain pattern for the title of their "Belt and Road" report,namely,province(or place name)+ industry + "Belt and Road"+modifier.In addition,through a simple discourse analysis of the title,the five provincial party newspapers used encouraging words in the title drafting in an attempt to create a sense of accomplishment and recognition,but their propaganda was intense.The article summarizes the macro and micro analysis of the report and concludes that the general framework of the five provincial party newspapers is the outlook framework.In addition,the five provincial party newspapers still have a results framework and description framework.The "Shaanxi Daily","Gansu Daily" and "Xinjiang Daily"are more focused on the results framework;"Ningxia Daily" and "Qinghai Daily"focus on the description framework.On the basis of summarizing the framework,there are similarities and differences in the framework of the five provincial party newspapers.The similarities are:the subject of economic construction is dominant;the main theme of the report is positive;the title is full of inspiration.The differences are:the imbalance in reporting;the tone of the report is different;the source of the news is different.The author explored how the five provincial party newspapers used the news framework and conducted propaganda on policy reports.They found that the five provincial party newspapers mainly focused on reorganizing the news facts by emphasizing the theme of the report,highlighting the tone of the news report,selecting news sources,and so on.Promotion purposes.
