OBJECTIVE: The traditional Chinese acupuncture technique was applied in the electronic colonoscopy to evaluate whether it can alleviate the adverse feelings of the patients, relieve the pain and discomfort during the endoscopy,so that can provide safe and effective analgesic measures for the colonoscopy doctors and patients themselves.Dragon-tiger contending needling method was used in the analgesic colonoscopy to observe whether it can enhance the analgesic effect of acupuncture.METHODS: In the experiment,90 patients were randomly divided into simple acupuncture group, compound manipulation group and control group,30 cases each group. In simple acupuncture group, acupuncture was performed on both sides of Yanglingquan(GB34),Liangqiu(ST34),Zusanli(ST36),Sanyinjiao(SP6)and Chengshan(BL57)for 20 minutes half an hour before endoscopy examination.During the colonoscopy, acupuncture was performed on left-side Shousanli(LI10)and Hegu(LI4)acupoints,and electroacupuncture was used to stimulate the acupoints until the end of the examination. In the compound manipulation group, acupuncture therapy was also given for 20 minutes during the endoscopy.During the colonoscopy, electroacupuncture was the same used to stimulate left-side Shousanli(LI10)and Hegu(LI4),and the right side was used to continuously stimulate Hegu(LI4)acupoints by Dragon-tiger contending needling. In the control group, superficial and partial false acupuncture was given before colonoscopy, and no preventive measures were taken during colonoscopy.General information of the patient’s gender and age and previous history were recorded, including the history of surgery, acupuncture and gastrointestinal endoscope. The heart rate of the patients before and after colonoscopy was monitored, and the pain levels of the patients in the three groups when the colonoscopy was inserted through the rectosigmoid junction, sigmoid colon, spleen area, transverse colon, liver area and ascending colon were observed. The time of insertion to ileocecal junction, postoperative adverse reactions and postoperative patient satisfaction were recorded.RESULTS: A total of 88 cases were completed. In the compound manipulation group, one patient changed to other anesthesia methods for safety, and withdrew from the experimental group due to excessive heart rate.In the control group, one subject developed unbearable pain at rectosigmoid junction and asked to withdraw from the test group. All the data were statistically processed by a third party.Compared with the control group, the FPS score and VRS score of simple acupuncture group and compound manipulation group were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Compared with the control group, there were statistically significant differences in heart rate changes before and after colonoscopy between the simple acupuncture group and the compound manipulation group(P < 0.01).Compared with the control group, there was statistical significance in the scope-forward time and evaluation of postoperative satisfaction in simple acupuncture group and compound manipulation group(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference between the simple acupuncture group and compound manipulation group.CONCLUSION: Acupuncture analgesia applied to electronic colonoscopy can significantly reduce the pain of patients during the examination, improve the stability of patients’ heart rate, shorten the time of colonoscopy and improve the satisfaction of endoscope.
