Objective:To assess the therapeutic value of Dragon-tiger Contending(DTC)Method at cervi cal Jiaji(EX-B 2)and optimize the scheme of its clinical application on Cervical Spon dylotic Radiculopathy(CSR).Methods:In a prospective, randomized and controlled trial,70 CSRS cases were divided into two groups: the treatment group and the control group,35 cases for each. The treatment group received acupuncture with DTC method, while the control group were treated with the oral diclofenac sodium only. Both groups were treated 3 courses continually. The VAS grade and Tianzhongjingjiu symptom quantification table grade were employed to assess the effect of these two kinds of treatment on CSRS.Results:1.Base line comparingThere are no statistically significant difference(P>0.05)between the two groups by comparing their gender, age and duration before the treatment.2.VAS scoreThere are no statistically significant difference(P>0.05)between the two groups on VAS score before the treatment. While, the VAS scores of the two groups both were lower after treatment, which means that these two kinds of treatment can ameliorate pain level of CSRS patients. But at the same time,VAS score of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),which inferred that the effect of DTC is better than the orally diclofenac sodium in relief of CSRS patients.3.20-section method table grade of CSRS(Tianzhongjingjiu)Comparing the Tianzhongjingjiu table grade of two groups before the treatment, difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05),data are comparable. After treatment, the total score of Tianzhongjingjiu symptom quantification table scores of two groups was lower than before, with statistical difference(P<0.05),which illustrates that both groups can reduce the clinical symptoms of CSRS patients.Otherwise, the treatment group was lower than the control group, the difference between two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),which illustrates that Dragon-tiger Contending Method is better than the orally diclofenac sodium in relief of the clinical symptoms, signs, work life and the function of hands of CSRS patients.4.Comparison of clinical effectsAfter treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 91.18%,the cure rate was 61.76%;the total effective rate of the control group was 75.76%,the cure rate was33.33%,the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).The effective rage and cure rate of treatment group are much higher than the control group. Conclusion:DTC is effective in treating CSRS,and it is better than the orally diclofenac sodi um in pain relief, clinical symptoms and signs, work and self-care capability and the function of hands for CSRS patients. The total effective rate and the cure rate of DT C are much higher. This experiment is feasible and effective with high cure rate, butstill remain to be researched in the future.
