Purpose:To observe the clinical effect of modified Xiaochaihu decoction in treating slow transit constipation(the syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis)and analyze the clinical efficacy. After the clinical trial, the principle of operating shuji(like door shaft)to cure the disease of STC are explored by explaining the theory of hindered shuji which is the cause of STC disease.Material and method: All the medical cases of Clinical research were selected from the patients which were diagnosed as STC in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2017 to October 2019.All patients(71 in total)which participated in the sdudy having marked with numbers were divided into two groups by random number table. The observation group which contains 36 patients were treated with modified Xiaochaihu decoction, and the control group which contains 35 patients were treated with Maren soft capsule. All patients were treated for 4 weeks.4 weeks after stopping treatments, patients were followed up.The total scores of symptoms of STC before and after treatment and at the time of following up,the number of markers which patients excreting during the time of colonic transit test, curative effect after treatment and the safety of medicines during treatment were observed. The statistical software of SPSS 23.0 was used to process the clinical data and the statistical results were analysed and evaluated. Results: 1.After the clinical test,3 cases were excluded from the patients which participated in the clinical study. At last,68 patients were selectd for the clinical test: 34 patients in observation group,34 patients in control group.2.In respect of the number of markers which patients excreting during the time of colonic transit test, both two groups after this clinical test were significantly higher than those before test(P<0.05),and the increased scale of observation group were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05).3.In respect of the total scores of symptoms of STC,both two groups after the clinical test were significantly lower than those before test(P<0.05),and the decreased scale of observation group were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05).4.In respect of long-term efficacy,4 weeks after stopping treatments, the total scores of symptoms of STC in two groups were still significantly lower than those before test(P<0.05),and the decreased scale of observation group were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05).5.In respect of curative effect, the total effective rate in observation group was 85.3% and in control group was 76.5%,the markedly effective rate in observation group was 58.8% and in control group was 23.5%.There was a statistical difference in the effective rate between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion: In the treatment of STC,Modified Xiaochaihu decoction has advantages over Muxiang Binlang pill in respect of decreasing the total scores of symptoms of STC,increasing the number of markers which patients excreting during the time of colonic transit test, curative effect after treatment, and the safety of medicines.Modified Xiaochaihu decoction can significantly improve the overall symptoms of patients with STC,improve the colonic transit function and has a relatively stable and long-lasting effect. It is worthy of research and expanding.
