| Objective:Scapulohumeral periarthritis is a retrogression and chronic aseptic inflammation which happens on soft tissue around shoulder joint.Its clinical manifestations are mainly shoulder pain and limited shoulder motion which seriously affect patients' quality of life.Therefore,finding a quick and effective analgesic method is the important factor to improve patients' quality of life.Based on the clinical study,the author concluded that navel acupuncture has a great effect in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis,notably the immediate analgesic effect.As navel acupuncture is a new needling method,there are very few clinical reports and objective studies.By means of observing the improvement of shoulder pain and activity after single acupuncture treatment,this research compares the immediate curative effect of navel acupuncture and traditional acupuncture on scapulohumeral periarthritis,as well as evaluating the feasibility,effectiveness,safety and immediate curative effect of navel acupuncture on scapulohumeral periarthritis,aiming at providing a new therapeutic idea for rapid pain relief of scapulohumeral periarthritis and providing an objective evidence for the immediate effect of navel acupuncture.Methods:Patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into navel acupuncture group and control group with 40 cases in each group.The navel acupuncture group chose Xun position(pain on right shoulder)or Kun position(pain on left shoulder)according to the location of disease.Needles were retained for 30 minutes on male and 25 minutes for female;acupoints chosen in control group were "Tiaokou penetrating to Chengshan",Jianyu,Jianliao and Ashi.Any added or subtracted acupoints are based on the type of meridian syndrome.Needles were then retained for 30 minutes.The degree of shoulder pain was evaluated by VAS rating scale before treatment,after needling and after needle retaining.The improvement of shoulder motion was evaluated by ROM rating scale before needling and after needle retaining.Results were analyzed using SPSS25.0 statistical software.Results:(1)Total effective rate:In the experimental group,14 cases were obviously effective after a single navel acupuncture treatment,17 cases were effective,9 cases were ineffective,and the total effective rate was 77.5%.In the control group,none of the cases were obviously effective after a single traditional acupuncture treatment,26 cases were effective,14 cases were ineffective,and the total effective rate was 65%.Both groups had obvious immediate effect in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis.And the total effective rate was significantly different(P<0.05)between two groups hence indicating that the navel acupuncture has a better immediate effect in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis.(2)VAS score:Significant pain relief was observed in both groups(P<0.05);However,there is significant difference in the VAS score between the two groups after needling and after needle retaining(P<0.05).Hence,it shows that navel acupuncture is more effective in immediate pain relief compared to traditional acupuncture.(3)Joint range of motion:Both groups can significantly improve shoulder forward bend and abduction(P<0.05),but has no significant improvement in extorsion and intorsion(P>0.05).There are significant differences in ROM score and abduction score between the two groups after treatment(P<0.05),and no significant difference in forward bend score(P>0.05).It shows that navel acupuncture has the same effect in improving forward bend as the control group,and is better in improving abduction activity.Conclusion:Both navel acupuncture and traditional acupuncture have definite and immediate effect on scapulohumeral periarthritis,and navel acupuncture has better immediate effect on pain relief and shoulder joint mobility improvement than traditional acupuncture.Moreover,navel acupuncture is a safe,feasible and effective method,and can be used as one of the effective clinical treatment methods. |
