Background:Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor,it often invades the rapidly growing long backbone or epiphyseal end, such as the femur, tibia, humerus, and so on.Osteosarcoma of lower limbs in adolescents is characterized by high malignancy, high early metastasis rate, high disability rate and poor prognosis, which brings heavy economic and psychological burden to patients, their families and even the society. With the development of preventive medicine and epidemiology, the study of malignant tumor risk factors has become a hot spot.Studies have shown that the occurrence of malignant tumors is the result of the interaction between environment and genes,in which diet plays a significant role.In recent years, more and more studies have been conducted on the correlation between unhealthy living habits, dietary habits and malignant tumors, which provides a basis for screening, dietary prevention and treatment of malignant tumor risk factors.Modern medicine and Chinese medicine have made great progress in the study of the etiology and treatment of osteosarcoma, however, the study and screening of the correlation between high-risk dietary factors and malignant tumors are mostly concentrated in gastrointestinal tumors such as esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer. The correlation between the occurrence of osteosarcoma and poor diet and lifestyle is still less. One of the most common age groups for osteosarcoma is adolescence. However, the causes of adolescent osteosarcoma have not been thoroughly studied.Professor Huang Jinchang has found that the majority of adolescent osteosarcoma patients have a preference for cold food in clinical practice for more than 20 years. From the point of view of traditional Chinese medicine, adolescents are in a period of rapid growth and development, with rapid bone growth and relatively insufficient kidney gas.Osteosarcoma often occurs in the epiphysis of the lower limbs, which grows rapidly. If they prefer to eat raw cold, they will be endogenous in cold and dampness. The lower limbs are easily affected by the evil of cold and dampness, which will invade the bone and form tumors. In order to determine whether the occurrence of osteosarcoma of lower extremities in adolescents is related to bad dietary habits,we conducted a questionnaire survey on adolescents with osteosarcoma of lower extremities in combination with factors such as unhealthy diet, living habits and family history of cancer related to the occurrence of tumors, and explored the life and dietary risk factors of osteosarcoma, which has certain significance in preventing the occurrence of osteosarcoma. Objective:Through case-control study, this study explored the correlation between diet, living habits and the occurrence of osteosarcoma of lower extremities in adolescents,in order to find the suspicious risk factors,so as to provide a theoretical basis for the dietary prevention and treatment of osteosarcoma of lower limbs in adolescents. Methods:We collected 104 adolescent patients with osteosarcoma of lower extremities aged 12 to 25 years in the case group, who were treated in the acupuncture and minimally invasive oncology clinic of the third affiliated hospital of Beijing university of Chinese medicine from September 2015 to December 2018.We randomly selected 100 healthy people of the same age in the community and school population as the control group. We conducted a questionnaire survey on the two groups of subjects through telephone follow-up or face-to-face interview,in order to obtain their general clinical data and exposure data of dietary habits and other factors.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore the relationship between these factors and the occurrence of osteosarcoma of the lower limbs in adolescents. Results:Using x2 test to carry out univariate analysis on the family history of cancer, life habits and dietary habits of the two groups, found that the two groups had differences in family history of cancer, diet temperature, eating raw and cold food, sweet food,Fried and barbecue food, curing and drying food, meat and poultry food, and drinking sweet drinks, the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).Through multivariate Logistic regression analysis of the selected suspicious factors,it was found that family history of tumors(OR=6.523,95%CI:2.186?19.465,p=0.001),preference for raw and cold food(OR=1.906,95%CI:1.093?3.323,p=0.023),frequent eating of raw and cold food(OR=1.729,95%CI:1.049?2.848,p=0.032),frequent eating of sweet food(OR=2.372,95%CI:1.455?3.866,p=0.001),frequent eating of fried and barbecued food(OR=2.560,95%CI:1.581?4.145,p=0.000),and frequent eating of poultry meat(OR=2.898,95%CI:1.952?4.304,p=0.000)were the main risk factors for osteosarcoma of lower limbs in adolescents. Conclusion:The incidence of lower limb osteosarcoma in adolescents is related to diet and living habits, family history of cancer, cold diet, frequent eating of raw and cold foods, sweets, fried and barbecued foods, and poultry meat are risk factors for osteosarcoma of lower limbs in adolescents. The occurrence of osteosarcoma of lower limbs in adolescents can be reduced by adjusting and changing diet and living habits.
