Research On The Design Strategy Of Urban Surplus Space From The Perspective Of Community Construction

Inefficient green spaces in communities are privately turned into individual vegetable gardens.The community garden becomes a paradise of mosquito dirt and public microgreen space is trampled into paths…The awkward situation of these public spaces just reflects the existence of urban residual space.The scene representation extends the public's real demand for public space,rather than the "imaginary demand" of designers and managers.However,the unconscious behavior of the public towards the surplus space is ignored in any Chinese city,and this high degree of participation exactly reflects the elastic potential of the urban residual space.Under the background of urbanization,the public has the problem of off-line communication barrier and the quality demand of public space.The focus of this thesis is not only to diseover the spatial potential of urban residual space,but also to study its identity as the main media,that is,how the residual space acts on people's life and communication,and community building plays a catalytie and reversal role in this process.Regarding"surplus" as an opportunity of space regeneration,we can endow the social interaction of urban surplus space with multi-subject participation in community building,and find a flexible opportunity for the permanent development of "surplus" space.This thesis combs the current situation of design and utilization of urban residual space at home and abroad through basic theoretical research,case induction and field research,and discusses the deeper integration of the residual space in theory and practice at the two levels of landscape and social function.Through the case study,this thesis hopes to explore the way out of the remolding of urban residual space under the background of indifferent society.The research content is not to explore new space,but to reorganize the existing space and focus on people's real needs from the perspective of micro-daily community.In combination with the "micro-renewal" plan carried out in Shanghai and Nanjing in recent three years,the multi-dimensional remolding method of "surplus" was explored in the survey.Residual space remodeling from the perspective of community building,although the main body of the study is only a small scale space with little individual influence.However,when these "small,spaces and the communities behind the "surplus" remodeling establish connections and form an ecosystem,they tend to become the "big" of the new concept and promote the self-renewal of urban public space.Taking the "surplus" as an opportunity to guide the public to participate actively and expand the "social dimension" of design is also the value of this thesis.
