Old Communities Based On The Concept Of Micro-renewal Public Space Design Research

As China’s cities enter the transformation from incremental expansion to stock enhancement,the renewal and transformation of old residential areas as the main incremental space of cities is urgent.The design concept of renovation and transformation of old residential areas has also changed from the extensive traditional urban renewal design mode of large demolition and construction to the low-intervention,gradual and continuous micro-renewal mode.At the same time,after experiencing the crisis and dilemma of the epidemic,the residents of the old community have more urgent emotional needs for community environment improvement,quality improvement in physical space attributes,and community identity and sense of belonging in spiritual space attributes.The micro-renewal of old residential areas is a fine-tuning and gradual renewal model for sustainable development.It has become an inevitable measure to adapt to the development of the new era and accelerate the process of urban renewal,and will be conducive to the realization of the ’people ’s city ’ and the people ’s ’ good life ’.Gengjiazhuang Community is located in Gaolan Road Street,Chengguan District,Lanzhou City.After more than 60 years of iterative development in different periods and different forms of construction,there has been a lack of community functions,negative space environment,aging service facilities,and degradation of green space,which cannot meet the physical and mental needs of residents.At present,the renovation of old communities has become one of the focuses of Lanzhou ’s urban development strategy in recent years.This paper takes the Gengjiazhuang community in Gaolan Street,Chengguan District,Lanzhou City as the research object,analyzes the micro-renewal theory and its excellent cases based on the micro-renewal concept,and summarizes the micro-renewal design strategies and techniques.By using the methods of field investigation,observation,behavior marker and graphic method and questionnaire survey,this paper makes an in-depth study on the characteristics of public space and the behavior characteristics of residents in Gengjiazhuang community,and applies the theoretical research to the practice of micro-renewal design of public space in Gengjiazhuang community,so as to explore the suitable mode and feasible path of micro-renewal in old communities.The first chapter of the thesis first analyzes the research object and content,and summarizes the current situation of the research on the renewal and micro-renewal of the old residential areas at home and abroad and the old residential areas in Lanzhou,and finds that the current research and practice are insufficient,laying the foundation for this research.The second chapter first combs the basic theoretical research related to micro-renewal and the concept,type evolution,spatial characteristics and constituent elements of public space in old communities.Secondly,based on the concept of micro-renewal,the excellent cases of residential renewal and transformation design at home and abroad are analyzed,and the design principles and strategies are summarized.The third chapter studies the public space of Gengjiazhuang community from the perspective of physical space.Firstly,the spatial distribution and development status of the old residential areas in Lanzhou are analyzed.Secondly,from the macro,meso and micro levels,the relationship between Lanzhou Gengjiazhuang community and urban blocks,the characteristics of Gengjiazhuang community public space,the micro space and its details of Gengjiazhuang community are investigated and analyzed.Finally,the development status and existing problems of Gengjiazhuang community public space environment are summarized.The fourth chapter studies the behavior and public space satisfaction of Gengjiazhuang community residents from the spiritual space level.The behavior types,behavior characteristics and behavior distribution of Gengjiazhuang community residents were observed and recorded by observation method,behavior marker and graphic method,and the environmental satisfaction and yearning of residents were evaluated and analyzed by questionnaire survey.The fifth chapter applies the previous research to the design practice,and puts forward the following design strategies for the micro-renewal design of public space in Gengjiazhuang community :1.Optimize the basic space of the community and realize community sharing 2.Create multi-type and multi-level interactive space to promote residents ’ interaction 3.Introduce the concept of ecological design to improve the living environment and residents ’ physical and mental health 4.Stimulate residents ’ healthy sports and improve their physical quality5.Create community culture and shape the spirit of place,so as to create a livable,enjoyable and pleasant living environment.The results of this study not only have guiding significance for the micro-renewal of public space in Gengjiazhuang,but also provide reference and ideas for relevant design practice research in Lanzhou and Northwest China.
