From the "ShanZhai Era" to today's "Going Global",Chinese smartphone industry has been developing rapidly and its manufacturing capacity has reached the world-class level.However,due to the inventory of the smartphone market,the lack of technology accumulation,and industrial organization innovation connections,the competition in the smartphone industry is intensified,the innovation ability is insufficient,the core technology is missing,and the profit margin is low,thus forming a vicious circle of insufficient r&d investment,which seriously hindering the innovation and development of the smartphone industry in China.At the same time,research and development activities are characterized by long cycle,high cost and high risk,and it is difficult for a single organization to carry out effective innovation.Constructing innovation network is not only conducive to solving the dilemma faced by smartphone industry innovation organizations in innovation activities,enhancing organizational innovation capabilities,promoting smartphone industry upgrading and fostering international competitiveness,but also conducive to strengthening regional innovation links.In this context,this thesis incorporated the smartphone industry,innovation network and multidimensional proximity into the research framework.Based on the patent cooperation data of the smartphone industry from 2003 to 2018,we adopted the negative binomial regression random effect model to explore the impact of multi-dimensional proximity on the evolution and performance of the innovation network of the smartphone industry.The results show that:Firstly,in the evolution of the innovation network: 1.Comparing the regional characteristics of inter-provincial cooperation,intra-provincial cooperation is the most important way.Moreover,the spatial distribution of actors in the industry is more and more concentrated.2.From the perspective of technology proximity,the cooperation with actors in the same technology field is the main way,and the cross-technology cooperation reflects the clustering feature.3.From the perspective of institutional proximity,the actors often choose individuals of the same organizational category to cooperate,while there is also cooperation among different organizational categories,such as the cooperation between enterprises and universities or research institutes,which shows a growing trend.Secondly,in the innovation network performance: 1.Both geographical proximity and technological proximity have an inverted U-shaped effect on innovation performance,and most of the innovative organizations are in the positive effect brought by geographical proximity,while most of the innovative organizations are in the negative effect brought by excessive technological proximity,and institutional proximity has a significant positive effect on innovation performance.2.The interaction between geographical proximity and technological proximity is beneficial to innovation performance,and the interaction coefficient is the largest.The interaction between technology proximity and institution proximity only positively promotes the current technological innovation,but the interaction between geographical proximity and institution proximity is not significant.3.Network density has a significant effect on the adjustment of geographic proximity and technical proximity,but it has no significant effect on the adjustment of institutional proximity.Finally,we put forward corresponding policy suggestions according to the research results.
