Ebook Approval Plan In The American Academic Libraries

In the environment of Internet accelerated speed and big data application,technological innovation of mobile devices,digital storage tools and network terminal hardware has been accelerated,make the disadvantages of the library in the way of book purchasing are gradually exposed.Therefore,choosing a new,scientific,efficient and economical way to purchase books has become the primary task of digital collection construction in the library.With the digital library construction gradually consummation,digital information and digital reading have gradually become the primary choice of readers and the importance of e-books for library has also been risen.At present,the approval plan implemented by university libraries in China are mainly applicable to the purchase of print books in libraries,while the procurement of e-books is through the use of package procurement and subscription models through cooperation with Superstar,Fangzheng and Shusheng.Therefore,under the continuous optimization of the Internet environment,how to innovate the e-book purchasing mode,build a new cooperation framework with suppliers,in order to strengthen the integration of pint book and electronic book in academic libraries and coordinate the purchasing of print book and electronic book are the urgent problems to be solved with library leadership.Firstly,we conduct an in-depth analysis of the current situation of e-book resource purchasing through online literature resource retrieval,and describe the origin and development of the approved plan and the general workflow.Secondly combined with the relevant basic theories of the approval plan,the article mainly analyzes the application status and obstacles of the implementation of e-book approval plan in American university libraries.Through the empirical analysis of Texas A&M University,summarize the multi-faceted impact of the e-book approval plan on the collection development.According to Chinese current e-book procurement system,use the experience of USA for reference,the author puts forward some suggestions on the improvement of e-book procurement and the implementation strategy of approved plan in China.
