| Since the launch of the first Amazon Kindle e-book reader, a wave of digital reading has been set all over the world, e-lending service becomes one of the core business of library in the digital age. The feature of ebook which easy to spread and easy to copy breaking the years of stable relationship between libraries and publishers. For interest, publishers make various of restrictions for libraries on purchasing and using ebooks, such as the restrictions on the number of available times and concurrent users, publishers also refuse to sell new books and best-selling books to libraries, library e-lending service has so many difficulties. On the current research in our country, it’s all basically about the discussion of library e-lending models in Britain, the United States and Canada, there is no classification of different e-lending models and analysis of its impact and applicability.Libraries in Europe and America have an early start on the practice of e-lending service, and have formed some relatively flexible e-lending models. This study making Europe and America as the main scope; introducing the factors that affect the development of e-lending service in these area; summarizing and classifying the e-lending models based on the perspective of technology and service mode. And on this basis, the paper has a discussion about e-lending models’ applicability and analyzes the influence of different e-lending models on user lending experience and library e-book service. Combine the conclusion with our actual situation, and try to put forward the enlightenment on the update and development of library e-lending service for our country, such as improve the laws and regulations, the selection of business model and draw up the e-lending rules. |
