Thanks to the popularity of 4G technology and the mass coverage of smart phones,short videos are now popular new media,penetrating every aspect of people's lives like warm water.As one of the vertical classification of mobile short video,beauty short video is unique among many short video categories due to its unique layer culture and the huge economic benefits hidden behind it.In this paper,from the perspective of media research,with the three major theories of media ecology proposition content to research framework,using the method of literature study,case study method and content analysis and other research methods.The paper studies the short makeup video of the Douyin platform from three main aspects: semiotics,communication bias and social environment.The main content of this paper can be divided into five parts:In the first part,the author solidifies the theoretical foundation of media environment by reading a large number of scholars' monographs and a large number of papers,and determines the specific research framework of this paper.After that,the literature related to short videos is sorted out and the relevant theoretical blank is found.In the second part,the author defines and classifies beauty makeup short videos,and introduces the technical advantages of douyin platform in detail,which lays a foundation for the detailed content analysis in the following part.The third part is one of the core chapters of this paper.The author follows the first theoretical proposition in media ecology,that is,the material structure and symbolic form of media regulate the coding mode of media.From the perspective of semiotics,this paper analyzes the material structure and symbol environment of the short videos of beauty makeup,and then analyzes thecommunication characteristics of the multi-sensory interwoven with the symbolic meaning of its features from its unique vocabulary symbols,appearance symbols and makeup symbols.The fourth part relies on the second theoretical proposition of media ecology: the unique symbol coding form of media makes media have different preferences.This paper analyzes and expounds the communication bias of short videos of beauty makeup,and finally draws a conclusion that such short videos have three kinds of communication bias: space,scene and emotion bias.The fifth part corresponds to the last theoretical proposition of media ecology,that is,the media's communication bias will change people's thinking and behavior patterns,and ultimately have an impact on the social economy and culture.According to beauty makeup short video's communication bias and its symbol of symbolism,from female independent consciousness and aesthetic preference.This paper expounds the beauty makeup short video for the influence of culture,and from "fans economy" and "consumer society" analyzed the beauty makeup short video effect on the economy.Finally,the paper also provides suggestions on the development of beauty short videos from three aspects: government,platform and personal.Starting from the theoretical proposition of media ecology,this paper analyzes beauty makeup short videos,aiming to make theoretical exploration of this new media from the perspective of systematic media ecology,and fill the research blank of beauty makeup short videos in this aspect.
