Optical transceiver is one of the key part of the optical network,which receives electrical signal input and transmits optical signal over fiber,and meanwhile receives optical signal from fiber and transmits electrical signal to the host.Nowadays,triggered by new market requirement like 5G,hyperscale datacenter and super-computing,optical transceiver technology is in rapid development.It is getting more and more important to make the transceivers with smaller size,higher density,lower power consumption,pluggable and higher reliability.The paper shows how an VCSEL(Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser)-based 10Gbps SFP+(Small form-factor pluggable plus)optical transceiver is designed,tested and qualified by GR468 standard.It contains below sections:1.Design:The 10G SFP+transceiver's architecture design and component selection is illustrated,given the specifications defined in the industrial standards.We elaborated how VCSEL,Photodetector,VCSEL driver and TIA works and the electrical design schematic and layout design based on the components selection.2.Performance test:We illustrate how the 10G SFP+transceiver's electrical and optical performance is tested using commercial test devices,and according to the test result this transceiver meets the specifications over full operating temperature range(0?,25?,70?)and voltage range(3.135V,3.3V,3.475V).3.Reliability test:Following GR468 reliability standard,we did reliability test to the 10G SFP+transceivers and the result shows that this transceiver could still function normally after environmental stress.The 10G SFP+ transceiver presented in this paper has these advantages:small size,low cost,good reliability and DDM(digital diagnostic monitoring).
