With the growing globalization of economy,corporation and competition exist side by side at the same time internationally and intercitially.Obviously,a city represents the comprehensive strength of a city in miniature,which also mirrors the core-competitiveness of it.Therefore,it is important to construct and develop a city from all spects.A city's constructing to refresh its image contributes to its civilization construction,focusing on the competition between cities,and essential for promoting the urban economic development.The city of Lanzhou has a long history,having been serving as an important line of communications since the ancient times.As was,is and has been known to people at home and abroad,it acts as the link and bridge between the west of the world and the central eastern region of our country.Amazingly,it also works as the gate of the trade to and from China among the central Asian countries.More importantly,Lanzhou belongs to the family of the five cities as one example of China along the New Eurasian Continental Bridge.In western part of China,Lanzhou not only is rich in natural resources,but also has profound historical and cultural resources.As a consequence,Lanzhou has the potential to fully develop itself in all aspects.As the vital city along the Chinese section of the Silk Road,Lanzhou plays a reasonably important role and certainly indispensable in the development of our country.However,Lanzhou has not enjoyed high reputation and fame so far,so it is urgent to expose and exhibit its image of Lanzhou to the whole world and a must to accelerate its development,which is realistic and meaningful and beneficial to Lanzhou,to China and even to the whole world.This assay disposes four problems with the Lanzhou image communication through the research into the urban image communication of Lanzhou.They are classified as exactly monotonous communication,no diversity of the main body of communication,no targeted dissemination based on audience characteristics,and lack of well-designed communications.As to the problems mentioned above,the author concludes that only by segmenting audience by the means of statistics,by making the main body of communication is hierarchical and diversified,by integrating the mode of communication with media and by diversifying the content of communication can the image of the City of Lanzhou be established and will Lanzhou expand and develop politically and economically and culturally as targeted in the normal and healthy way.
