With the continuous development of radio technology,traditional narrowband antennas have been unable to meet the demand for communication speed and communication capacity.The emergence of ultra-wideband technology has solved the above problems.UWB technology has been widely used in radar systems,electromagnetic compatibility testing,and radio monitoring due to its long bandwidth and efficient transmission rate.It also has a good application prospect in the civilian field.The horn antenna has been used in many ultra-wideband systems due to its good gain,directionality and simple structure.By adding the ridge to the original horn antenna,the cut-off wavelength of the main mode TE10 mode can be reduced and the frequency of the TE20 mode can be increased to improve the bandwidth of the horn antenna based on the original high gain and good directionality.At the same time,the horn antenna after the ridge is smaller than the original horn antenna of the original frequency band,and the antenna is miniaturized,and is better applied to the ultra-wideband system.Firstly,based on the basic theory of antenna and the basic theory of horn antenna,this paper introduces the basic difference and basic parameter concept of UWB antenna in traditional antenna;Secondly,the paper introduces the basic structure of the double-ridged horn antenna and the functions of each part.And combined with the actual design needs,an ultra-wideband dual-ridge horn antenna working in the 12-24 GHz band was designed.The antenna has a voltage standing wave ratio of less than 2.5 over the entire frequency band,the pattern is not cracked,and has a high gain,both above 15.8 dB.Subsequently,the ridge curve and the ridge waveguide cavity structure are improved respectively,and the voltage standing wave ratio and return loss of the antenna are improved.Under the premise of ensuring that the parameters of the antenna meet the requirements,the working frequency band is extended to 12-30 GHz.Finally,the design of the dual-polarized four-ridged horn antenna is briefly introduced.An Ultra-wideband Quad-ridge Horn antenna operating in the 6-18 GHz band was designed.
