The Study Of Shanghai Newspaper Workers In The Period Of The Republic Of China (1912-1949)

Although the research on the history of newspapers and periodicals has gradually got rid of the situation of neglecting people,most of it focuses on the introduction and evaluation of the news practice,news thoughts and historical contributions of the elite figures such as editors and journalists,and lacks due attention to the low-level workers engaged in the press typesetting work.It is of great significance for us to have a deeper understanding of modern newspaper management,modern industry and modern workers' movement by investigating the newspaper workers in the period of the Republic of China.However,only a few papers on newspaper workers mainly focus on the impact and performance of labor dispute,but they do not cover the group characteristics,working conditions,living conditions,organizational forms,political party interaction and other aspects of newspaper workers,which is difficult to reproduce the historical panorama of this group,so it is necessary to carry out further research.The main reasons for choosing Shanghai as the research area are as follows: First,Shanghai is the central area of the development of modern newspaper industry in China,bringing together a large number of newspaper workers.Second,Shanghai is the leading area of the workers' movement in modern China,among which the newspaper workers were the first group to carry out the workers' movement.This paper mainly starts from the following two clues: one is to construct a group of newspaper workers from a historical perspective,showing the essential characteristics of the group of newspaper workers;the other is to examine how the group of newspaper workers interact with society in the context of the great social changes at that time.The specific text is divided into the following six parts: The first part combs the basic situation of Shanghai newspaper workers from early sources,recruitment methods,quantity and characteristics;The second part combs the working conditions of Shanghai newspaper workers from type of work,working hours,working environment,working rules and professional mobility;The third part combsthe living conditions of Shanghai newspaper workers from working income,welfare treatment and daily life;The fourth part combs the organizational form of Shanghai newspaper workers from organizational evolution,operational mechanism and main activities;The fifth part,from the Great Revolution period,after the Great Revolution to the Anti-Japanese War period,the Anti-Japanese War period,the Liberation War period,combs the political party interaction of Shanghai newspaper workers;The sixth part combs the causes of labor disputes among Shanghai newspaper workers from improving treatment,employment and mass movement,and makes a concrete analysis of the strikes of workers in current affairs new newspapers as an example.
