With the rapid development of "big data" in worldwide, it has an immeasurable influence on journalism. On the one hand, big data applied in the press has given rise to the emergence of the data journalism, making it fast become an emerging field of global journalism, and data journalism is regarded as the future of the journalism. Big data, on the other hand, also cause a huge shock on the work processes, work methods and talents training mode of traditional journalism.Nowadays, data journalism, as an innovative form of reports, has been gradually penetrating into the practice of the press discourse. No matter under the pressure of reform and development of the press, or carrying out varying degrees of innovations actively, the traditional media and new media both launch data journalism products or data journalism columns to attract the attention of the audience, and exploit a new form to presenting and interpreting news fact.Despite the current academic circles for data journalism research has already achieved abundant research results, but the studies of data journalism practitioners are rare, especially the research about the data journalism practitioners labor status is a blank. The commercialization trend of the press continues to strengthening, data journalism practitioners are also involved in commercialization waves, and the flexible employment and work system make their life survival lacking of stable guarantees. The multiple effects of the political requirements, economic interests and personnel system forced them bedding into a firm network, and eventually become knowledge workers of the new era.This research focus on data journalism practitioners, utilizing literature, field interviews and ethnography to study the labor status of the group, through depicting the data journalism practitioners’ working methods, production mechanism, the working processes, the employment system, etc., tries to analyze what factors discipline and dominate their data journalism practices.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, discussing the research background, research purpose and significance, research objects and problems, expounding the theoretical framework and research methods of the study. The second chapter is the literature review, listing the current relevant researches at home and abroad about data journalism, journalism practitioners and knowledge workers. The third chapter discusses the recruiting, talents training and vocational education of data journalism practitioners, and analyzing such mechanisms are how to ensure the labor force constant reproduction of the industry. Chapter 4 summarizes the data news production process, organization structure and management modes. The 5th chapter as the research conclusion, analyses the composition characteristics of data journalism practitioners team, explains that the covered attribute of data journalism products is cultural industry products, makes an analysis that the data journalism practices of Chinese data journalism practitioners is how to be influenced by the control of commercial logic, how to be discipline. And the flexible working system, interest-oriented production and emotional bonds are how to cover the exploitation of the workers. The 6th chapter is epilogue, illustrating the problems and deficiencies of this study, and puts forward suggestions for subsequent research.
