Discourse Isomorphism Of Political Rituals:Discourse Analysis Of The "Two Sessions Of The People's Network"

Political ceremony is an indispensable and important part of national political life.As the most concentrated period of political communication in China,the annual “two sessions” have achieved good communication effect under the trend of using mobile news live broadcasting in news reporting in recent years.Under the strong response of the public,the “two sessions” have become a unique“political ceremony” in China.As a live column covering the “two sessions” in an all-round way,the launch of “two sessions in progress” has been a great success,with over 100 million broadcasts.Therefore,this paper takes the “two sessions in progress” as an example to study the way,content and social and political factors behind the political ritual discourse isomorphism of the “two sessions”.In the specific research,we use Van Dick's and Fairclough's methods and theories of news discourse analysis,using 33 live broadcasts of the “two sessions” of People's Network in 2017 and 2018 as samples.Firstly,the macro-and micro-level structural analysis of the “two sessions in progress” live broadcasting is carried out.It is found that the“two sessions in progress” through the core agenda of the two sessions live broadcasting,live links of journalists,high-end interviews,authoritative interpretation,creative video,etc.constitutes the program framework of the live broadcasting.Each section completes the “two sessions” through the combination of related discourse information.The expression of the theme.In addition,the “two sessions” live broadcasting uses plain,straightforward discourse style and factual data to enhance persuasion,skilled use of ancient poetry,proverbs and other language rhetoric techniques,to enhance the dissemination effect of the “two sessions” political ceremony.Secondly,the live broadcast also constructs three discourse subjects,namely,the media,the representative committee members and the public,who play different discourse roles,among which the media are “witnesses” of the “two sessions”,participate in the “ceremonial performance” of the "two sessions",and also assume the role of “producer” of the relevant issues of the “two sessions”,while the representative committee is “understanding readers” and “implementing”.The role of the “person” is that of the people,who are the active “followers” and “advisers” of the “two sessions”.The media not only voices for the people,but also works closely with the representative members.The two rights work together to accomplish the discourse isomorphism of the “two sessions”.Thirdly,through the analysis of the live broadcast context of the “two sessions”,we can find that the political ceremony of the “two sessions” can not be separated from the political context of harmony,democracy and people-oriented.It is also influenced by the social context of the keen need of citizens to participate in democratic politics and the background of media integration.The practical analysis of discourse isomorphism in the live broadcast of the “two sessions” shows that it has two characteristics: the cognitive perspective of people's livelihood orientation and the narrative perspective presented by storytelling.The media produces news texts through this cognitive perspective and narrative perspective,and disseminates the relevant topics and contents of the political ceremony of the “two sessions” to the society and the public.Finally,the study finds that as a kind of political ceremony,the discourse isomorphism of the “two sessions” ultimately points to political identity and motivation,that is,the political concept of the country is attached to the “two sessions” as a ritual carrier.Through high-density media publicity and reporting,the “two sessions” are widely disseminated and influenced in society,which not only disseminates the mainstream social ideological value of China,but also promotes the people's political influence on the country.The recognition of the system will also mobilize the support and participation of all the people in building the country.It will eventually be transformed into a strong action force for all the people to work together to build a socialist society with Chinese characteristics and realize the Chinese dream.
