A Study On Zhang Shizhao's Newspaper Thought Between Academic And Political Discourse

As a politician, writer, lawyer, journalist, Zhang Shizhao has multiple identities in late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China.Have great influence as public figures, Zhang Shizhao engaged 40 years in the press industry of China is the transformation of the transition period into modern newspapers, which he founded or participated in most of the newspapers in the Chinese news became a landmark historical coordinates. As a journalist, Zhang Shizhao constructed with newspapers and academic discourse and political discourse presented in the press thought is this thesis study focus.Main theme of this thesis is the ideas presented in the press which wandered between academic and political discourse. Around the trail, the thesis is divided into three chapters:Chapter One study that in the process of forming his own press thought, how to interact with contemporary intellectuals, What is the difference between the intellectual circles. By studying Zhang Shizhao's interaction of Modern Intellectual circles, we can show the changes in the press thought and part of the reasons for change.Chapter two focuses that in Jia Yin monthly period, how did he construct a political discourse, as a journalist,how can he achieved Jia Yin magazine's independence, how can he seek theory support for his political discourse and buile JiaYin Pai.By study those questions,we can know his press thought while constructing his political discourse.Chapter three is a parallel structure with the second chapter, focuses on how did he cheer for his academic discourse in Jia Yin magazine. In this chapter, first of all, we study the underlying reason that why did reporter Zhangshi Zhao persist in Scholars comment on the political and against the literary revolution.In the second,study the reason of changing of political discourse and academical discourse. Finally, by comparing analysis the Jiayin Weekly and Jia Yin monthly, reflect the impact of political discourse and academic discourse on Zhangshi Zhao, the changed and unchanged in his press thought. Chapter four is the conclusion part of the three chapters above,showing Zhang Shizhao as journalist, what is his press thought, what changes, what has not changed,and the reason of changing.Beginning in the Late Qing dynasty of political, social background, Zhang Shizhao interacted with other intellectuals, gradually shift from the traditional literati into the first new intellectuals, gradually shown the following characteristics, the first contact with Western Education. Zhang Shizhao was studied in Japan, the United Kingdom and traveled several times to Western Europe, Western Europe for access to more advanced political theory, with original insights. Second, greater mobility, since Zhang Shizhao came out from his hometown in Hunan, compared with the previous scholar-officials, the main trend in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, these urban centers, the concept of local weak. Third, the tightness of Zhang Shizhao and political high point with the contemporary journalists have greater differences between the political changes of the early Republic of China, Zhang Shizhao has been more closely linked with the ruling party.As a journalist,Zhang Shizhao interacted with different intellectuals rings, on the one hand, influenced lots of by others, it also affects the intellectual circles which he contacted. First of all, Zhang Shizhao shuttled in different intellectual circles, and relations of the intellectual circle was always in a constantly changing process. Su Bao circle of intellectuals was Caiyuanpei, ZhangTaiyan, Wu Chih-hui,etc,they promoted the revolutionary; In the Jia Yin monthly period,the intellectuals is mainly Zhang Shizhao, Li dazhao, Gao yihan and others, they advocated harmonic theory; Jia Yin magazine was mainly propaganda that old old culture can not be abandoned. Secondly, the intellectual circles formation are different. Su Bao Intellectuals circle main to the Patriotic Society for the core and the formation was a large group; Jia Yin monthly period, mainly through the personal influence of Zhang Shizhao together, and Yang Changji, ChenDuxiu, Li Dazhao per capita for the Zhang Shizhao close personal friend, has the characteristics of interpersonal communication. Thirdly, the role of Zhang Shizhao play at different stages are different. In the beginning, he studied and imitated other intellectuals, actively involved in revolutionary propaganda filled activities and assassinations in order to obtain their identity; in the Jiayin magazine while living in the dominant position,he impacted Li Dazhao, Huang Yuansheng and others; in the Jiayin During the weekly, Zhang Shizhao colleagues continue to debate that the old culture can't be abadoned, toward the opposite direction.As a journalist, Zhang Shizhao used the press for political and academic discourse expression, in particular through the Jiayin magazine publicity and political theory, to find some rationale for the support of political thought, in the process, Zhang Shizhao's thinking was changing, being walk in the academic and political,Shizhao had a different interpretation about the journalists. While operating Jiayin period, the chapter tend to publish the elite advertising, expanding circulation, editorial and distribution to achieve basic earnings stripping, etc., to ensure their right to speak independently to achieve the comment politic independantly; through the establishment of a stable editorial team, set up communication column to communicate with readers, by rigorous logic style, Western political theory had been widely disseminated to explain their thinking to reconcile statehood, had a major impact at the time, also played an important role in the political construction the Republic of China.
