Nowadays,equipment used for monitoring environmental information and video surveillance in the market is commonly placed in fixed positions in the indoor environment,which results in the limitation of monitoring scope.Thus this paper illustrates a design of remote control system based on mobile platform for indoor environment.The webcam and temperature sensors are attached to the smart car which can be controlled remotely by an android client through WiFi.The android client can get video content and temperature of any point where the smart car arrives in real time.The system designed is relatively flexible,which has important significance to home security and environmental monitoring.The research status of robot remote-control technology at home and abroad is introduced in summary.The overall design is proposed based on WiFi after comparing the current commonly used wireless communications.The system designed involves the smart car,OpenWrt router and Android clients.However,the OpenWrt router fixed to the smart car can be described as the bridge of the entire system for communication,used to transmit video data,control commands and temperature data.The two together constitute the mobile platform of the system.In consideration of the factors such as performance,cost and scalability,STC11F32 XE is chosen as the main control chip of the smart car.The OpenWrt router can be made from Gl.iNet6416 wireless router,which needs transplanting the OpenWrt operating system.In order to transmit control commands and temperature data,the OpenWrt router communicates with the smart car through a two-way serial,and communicates with the Android client through the socket based on TCP protocol.At the same time,it can read the video data collected by the webcam through the USB interface.However,the OpenWrt router has a limitation of CPU and memory resources in dealing with the large amount of video datas,Mjpg-Streamer needs to be installed and configured in the router,which is a video server and supports image compression through the webcam hardware,thus greatly reducing the CPU load.The Android client can communicate with Mjpg-Streamer through HTTP based on the IP and port of the video server.The system designed has been tested for function,the demands for remote control,video surveillance and temperature monitoring can be achieved,and the flexibility and real-time are well.
