Lean Six Sigma is the most popular methodology in quality management area,which is combined Lean and Six Sigma.Lean production was originated from Toyota way of production.Lean thinking believes all kinds of waste exist in production process which should be reduced or eliminated eventually through customer value analysis and finally lead to increase customer value.Six Sigma method was originated from Motorola in early 80 s last century and deployed widely and successfully in GE also.Six Sigma management methodology is based on data statistic and is implemented through project which aims to improve product or service quality,and establish the quality management of “Zero Defects” and “Perfect Quality”.The essay focuses on two aspects,1.Lean Six Sigma quality management system theory2.Application of Lean Six Sigma in process management and improvement in software industryThis paper chooses one real process improvement case in one R&D center of an international company,which is located in Chengdu China.This paper demonstrates how the DMAIC project is running successfully in order to achieve improvement both in business and financial goal,according to Lean Six Sigma methodology.In Define phase,the DMAIC project goal and schedule is defined during the improvement project goal setting up.In Measurement phase,effectiveness and accuracy of data sample is assured based on data collection plan and measurement system analyze.In Analyze phase,Control Impact chart is the output from value stream analysis,Pareto chart,and Fish bone chart analysis.In Improve phase,it's proved that the improvement solution is effective and executable,since solution is selected via solution selection matrix.In Control phase,solution is deployed in whole organization after pilot,and difference between improvement before and after is visible,via data based analysis and applying Lean Six Sigma methodology,and shows the business value which bring back to the company eventually.
