With the development of high-definition video technology,LED display control chips have begun to develop toward high gray levels,high visual refresh rate,and high integration.However,the current mainstream LED display control chip obtains a global clock through off-chip transmission,and its pulse width modulation speed is limited,resulting in gray level control,visual refresh rate,and line scanning capability.In view of this,it is necessary to design an LED display control chip with high visual refresh rate and multi-line scanning capability under the requirement of high gray level to meet the demand of the highdefinition LED screen display market.In order to improve the visual refresh rate and multi-row sweep driving capability of LED display control chip,firstly,this paper comprehensively compares and analyzes the working mechanism and performance of mainstream LED display control chip,and chooses to use the architecture of dedicated LED display control chip as the basis.LED display control chip architecture with built-in clock processing,pipeline processing and butterfly pulse width modulation(SSPWM)technology.Secondly,for the problem of "pitting" and "low ash loss" in LED large-screen display,the butterfly pulse width processing technology of this paper adopts the sub-period interspersed display,integrating the minimum on-time and before and after the line.Optimization means such as display configuration optimizes display quality while multiplying the visual refresh rate.Through the combination of three optimization methods,the line scanning capability is improved by 4 times while maintaining high gray level and high visual refresh rate.Finally,the design of the LED display control chip is verified and implemented by the hardware description language.According to the top-down chip design flow,based on the MagnaChip 180 ns CMOS process,the design and implementation of the LED display control chip is completed.The digital circuit layout area is 2500?m*3020?m.The test results of the synchronous display system on the LED screen show that the chip's off-chip clock frequency and gray level increase by 2bit at 15.6MHz achieves effective driving of 16*32 LED dot matrix,the visual refresh rate reaches 2972 Hz,and has great potential for improvement.The LED display control chip designed in this paper has the characteristics of high refresh rate,high gray level and multi-line scanning capability,and can meet the display requirements of high definition video.
