Hong Hei founded in Shang Hai in January 1929 and ran for eight issues until its closure in August. It's edited by Shen Congwen,Hu Yepin and Ding Ling.Hong Hei is a Coterie Journal which the main author of the journal is the three editors. It also published works from other literary youth.1929 was the transitional period from May 4th literature to revolutionary literature, based on the literature choice of the young people in the changing literary atmosphere, this paper makes a historical investigation of this small publication.Coterie Journal are common in the period of the May 4th movement, and rarely appears in the 1930 s and 1940 s.Although the form of the magazine continued the period of May 4th tradition,Hong Hei responded to the emerging literary trends and literary fashion because it was founded at the time of the rise of revolutionary literature. From Hong Hei,we can find that the three men present a kind of "intermediate state" that is neither outdated nor radical in their literary concepts and creative practices. They advocate the idea of "To expression of humanity in the uncertain times ",but fundamentally, their publication is still in the category of May 4th literature. The literature trend of Hong Hei can also be seen in the interpersonal interactions of the editors.Because both of them and the publications are in Shanghai, they have close contacts with old and new teachers and friends there. There are peers such as Dai Wangshu,Shi Zhecun,Du Heng,Liu Naou,Feng Xuefeng and other literary youth,as well as the literature associations closely related to students, such as propaganda drama movement of the Modern Society, and the Qinghai Literature Society of Fudan university; There are teachers related to Kaiming Co,such as Ye Shengtao,Zhu Ziqing and Zheng Zhenduo; There are Hu Shi,Xu Zhimo,Yu Dafu and others who are closely related to The Crescent Society and The Xiandaipinglun Group.Of course, these are the May 4th generation of the three editors of Hong Hei.At the same time, the three of them are also in close contact with the friends they made in Beijing,In particular, members of the Wu Xu Society including Yu Gengyu and literary youth in Hua Yan Monthly he founded. If it is said that Dai Wangshu and other people in 1929 are the emerging literary youth in the literatus of Shanghai,Yu Genyu and other old friends in Beijing are more with the characteristics of the May 4th literary youth. The difference between their literary friends foreshadows the ending of their divergence. From the literary creation published in Hong Hei,we find that Shen congwen represents a wing of the May 4th enlightening literature. His works analyze social and human problems from the perspective of culture and humanity. While Hu Yepin and Ding Ling came closer to the popular revolutionary literature. The three literary youths in a small publication make different choices in the period of historical transformation.Although the closure of the journal is related to economic factors, the division of editing groups composed of three people should also be one of the reasons.
