Ding Library Research

Ding Fu-Bao (1874-1952), a famous cultural celebrity of Shanghai, had collected more than 150,000 volumes books in all his life. According to the literature of the Book of Ding Library which were held by the library of Fudan University, this paper makes a study on Ding Fu-Bao's book collecting activities, by setting the Ding Library as an example.Apart from the introduction and the epilogue, the paper is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter is a general introduction about Ding Fu-Bao's family and life. The second chapter investigates the history of Ding Library, which is the biggest donation of Ding Fu-bao, with a focus on its establishment in Aurora University and how it was handed over to Fudan University, by exploring the Shanghai Municipal Archives collections. The third chapter is a report on the condition of the Ding Library collections in nowadays. The fourth chapter analyses the report and make an evaluation on the value of the Ding Library book Collections.
