OTN(Optical Transport Network)is a new kind of optical transportation technique which is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy)and WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing)network.OTN has the technical advantages of SDH and WDM.Meanwhile,it can deliver the large particles service in an efficient but low-cost way and monitor the end-to-end performance and fault.With the rapid development of large particle high bandwidth data service and the growing maturity of OTN,using OTN to build up a more efficient and reliable transportation network is the inevitable result of the development of telecom operator technology.At first,this thesis describes and analyzes the basic principle,architecture of OTN and the relationship between OTN and SDH?WDM,and proposes the basic elements and planning process of OTN network planning.Specially,it focus on the application of the OTN technology in the transport network.Based on the a large number of investigations and studies on the current situation of the transmission network and the capacity requirements of the metropolitan area network in the next three year in Fuzhou Unicom,the author suggests the construction of OTN network as the Fuzhou Unicom transmission network.Finally,the thesis make a detailed introduction of relative deployment plan of Fuzhou Unicom network,such as topology,network protection scheme,service channel configuration and so on.At present,the project is under planning and design,which can satisfy the development requirement of Optical broadBand,4G service and post-5G service of Fuzhou Unicom in the next 3-5 years.The result of benefit evaluation shows that OTN technology is the best solution for Fuzhou Unicom to deal with the transmission network requirements for now.
