With the rapid development of various broadband services, the inter-province capacity of IP backbone network has already become very insufficient. In order to satisfy the needs of fixed data service, WCDMA service and video service, and get the full advantage of network integration, a total solution to reasonable utilization and expansion of resources of two kinds of existing province level network is needed.Based on the guiding standards of chinaunicom group, the case of SDH, ASON and DWDM technology in transmission network are investigated. Considering the reality of chinaunicom of a given province and according to the operator’s consideration of capacity, maintenance transmission distance, network safety,cost and business development, a proposal of long-distance transmission network of chinaunicom of a province is put forward. The construction and implementation of long-distance transmission network of chinaunicom of a province is also presented. The test result shows that the constructed long-distance network of chinaunicom of the province has met the expected requirements.
