The history of Chinese bibliography classification is extremely long.According to Mr.Yu Jiaxi's opinion,the catalogue of a book can be traced back to the pre-Qin period,the preface of "The Book of Songs" and "Shang Shu" is the initial form of the catalogue.The Xu Gua is nominally a general description of each Gua of Zhou Yi in order.Radically,in fact,it can be regarded as the catalogue of Zhou Yi.Even though there still stands controversy over that argument,it is widely acknowledged by the later generations that the first catalogue,Qi Lue by Liu Xiang,has been created over two thousand years ago.Since Liu Xiang,the new works on catalogue emerged out of the old,comprehensive catalogues,and catalogues on history record have been amassed.The subject catalogue covers the Jing,Shi,Zi,Ji,and special catalogues.However,the catalogue of China's books has developed late,mainly because the books started quite late(Yu Dingsun,Yu Jing in the Southern Song Dynasty whose Ru Xne Jing Wu is the earliest series),and the number 1s limited.This situation did not change until the Ming Dynasty,when a large number of books were published.In the middle of the Qing Dynasty,the collection of books was quite common.Under the premise that a large number of books have been handed down to the later generation,the catalogue of books has emerged.The First Catalogue of Book Series is also known as The Catalogue of Book Series.It was written by Gu Xiu in the Qing Dynasty(1799).This is the first book series of China.This book unintendedly collects more than 200 kinds of books,which are loosely distributed,and are generally classified by the Jing,Shi,Zi,Ji.In spite of so,as the pioneering work of the book series,its influence on future generations is extremely far-reaching.Beginning from this,till Sun Yuxiu's The Index of The Catalogue of Book Series,most of the catalogues are titled with "the Recital Bibliography" as a vanguard.The citation part of the dissertation briefly introduces the reasons for the catalogue and the partial version of The Catalogue of Book Series(mainly in the National Library Collection).The main body of the text simply relates Gu Xiu,the author of The Catalog,e of Book Series,and deeply discussed the value and function of The Catalogue of Book Series,its shortcomings and the result of self-proofreading,inter-proofreading and deductive proofreading.
