| The Bibliotheque nationale de France is one of the world's largest collection agencies.In its vast collection,it includes a large amount of ancient Chinese documents.The most famous of the ancient Chinese documents in BnF is the Dunhuang documents,including Chinese doc-uments,Tibetan documents,as well as the documents of Turtles and Xixia.In addition to the Dunhuang documents,BnF also has a rich col-lection of ancient Chinese booksMaurice Courant(1865-1935)was a French diplomat and oriental-ist.In the early 20th century,Courant compiled the Catalogue des livres chinois,coreens,japonais,etc.for the manuscript department of BnF.The catalog divides the Chinese ancient books of Chinois 1-9080 into 21 first-level classifications,of which 18 have several secondary clas-sifications,and records collection number,title,author,volumes,book size,number of books,previous collection number,etc.of each book.At present,the domestic academic community has very little re-search on the Catalogue des livres chinois,coreens,japonais,etc..This paper is the first time that the academic community has conducted a comprehensive and in-depth study of it.It is innovative and helpful to promote the understanding and further study of the catalogue and related Chinese ancient books.In the introduction,the significance of the topic is analyzed,and the overall situation of the studies of overseas Chinese ancient books is reviewed.It is considered that Chinese ancient books collected by BnF have not received due attention for a long time.The basic situation of Sinology and Chinese ancient books in France is discussed.Part I of this paper is a brief introduction of the Catalogue des livres chinois,coreens,japonais,etc..It discusses the contents,the classification characteristics,the value of the catalogue,sources of the Chinese ancient books and so on.Based on the specific situation of this group of Chinese ancient books,Courant used western classification methods to classify it on the basis of fully absorbing and drawing les-sons from the ancient catalogue classification system of Chinese.In terms of classification settings,Courant paid more attention to the ra-tionality of classification,but did not care about the balance between various classifications.Among these Chinese ancient books,Buddhism is the most,followed by Catholic-related works,many of which are rare and valuable.The source of these books is very wide,mainly spread to France through missionaries,scholars,businessmen and soldiers.Part II of this paper is an annotated bibliography of rare books recorded in the Catalogue des livres chinois,coreens,japonais,etc..It selects some books that have been published early or are rare,and re-searches them one by one,detailing the bibliographic information of each book,paying particular attention to the relevant version infor-mation,discussing the basis of the version description,trying to clearly reflect each bibliographical features of these books.In this part of the paper,some previous errors have been corrected.For example,in the research on Han Lin's Duo Shu,the paper correctes Chen Yuan's expo-sition on ink bolck in Duo Shu and makes the inferences on the engrav-ing year.The paper has also corrected a large number of errors in the catalogue works such as The Catalogue of Chinese Ancient Books.In addition,some studies in the paper complement and perfect the relevant conclusions of the academic community.Part III of this paper studies Liu Ning's Annotations of Shuowen Changjian in BnF,researches the time of the annotations and the expe-rience of spreading,summarizes the annotations into seven areas and highlights the achievements of Liu Ning' philology,especially the study of the Six Categories of Chinese Characters... |
