A Study On The Catalogue Of Political Books In The Ancient Chinese "Tongzhi" Series

Political book is a kind of books which record ancient laws and regulations in ancient China. "Three Tong zhi" is one of the three series in "Ten Tong zhi". The catalogues of "Three Tong zhi" include Tong zhi Yi wen lue, Xu Tong zhi Yi wen lue and Huang chao Tong zhi Yi wen lue,and they have an important position in the history of Chinese ancient bibliography. The three directories record more than twenty thousand books from the ancient specimen to the qing Qianlong years so that they form a complete catalogue book which record the development of books during this period.Political book catalogues of Tong zhi series all use "Twelve types" to subdivide categories into three levels,and there are annotates that supplement books' informations under each entry headings with books' titles.There are tails which record number of volumes when each type of book cataloguing is finished.Each political book catalogue of Tong zhi series has a total preface,and the large preface and the small preface are according to the case.The description content,the category change and the prefaces in political book catalogue of Tong zhi series can reflect the academic development and also has important significance in distinguishing and researching.This article researches based on description content,classification system, the prefaces,annotates and tails in political book catalogue of Tong zhi series so that we can analyze the gain and the loss in these catalogues.
