This paper selects three disaster events: the Tangshan Earthquake in 1976,the Daxinganling Fire in 1987 and the Shouguang Flood in 2018.The article is based on the relevant reports of People's Daily(and its Weibo WeChat client)and uses content analysis. How to report on disasters in the mainstream media, and then to influence the core issue of current and subsequent disaster memory construction. At the same time, combined with written investigations and offline interviews, some of the audiences of People's Daily were analyzed to obtain their knowledge, memory and feelings about disaster reports in China. The introduction part through the literature combing, introduces the research results of disaster reports and disaster memory at home and abroad, and then puts forward the research questions of this paper. The second chapter to the fifth chapter try to analyze the reporting form, the subject of the report, the main role and the keynote construction of the three disaster events from the perspective of the "media memory" theory,so as to explore the mainstream media in the use of news reports and memory construction for disaster events. What are the ways, and what kind of intentions and hopes to convey the mainstream media in the process. The sixth chapter uses questionnaires and in-depth interviews to directly capture the audience's memory of disaster events and their views on disaster reports, and compare them with the disaster memory constructed by mainstream media to analyze the construction effects and the differences and causes between the two.The seventh chapter is "Conclusion and Discussion".It gives an answer to the research questions put forward in the introduction, discusses the problems existing in the current disaster news reports and memory research in China, and reflects on the shortcomings in this research. The study found that: First,China's mainstream media often adopts several generally fixed strategies when conducting disaster reports and writing disaster memories: one is to repeatedly focus on the focus of news reports;the other is to focus on the government as the main body of the report. On the government group;the third is to control the direction of the issue and strengthen public opinion guidance.Second, the mainstream media has highlighted the "achievement memory" and "wound memory" through selective reporting on different issues in disaster events, weakening or even forgetting "questioning memory" and "reflecting memory." What makes the audience leave more is the rescue memory of disaster relief, and the memory of the disaster itself is insufficient or even forgotten.Third, the mainstream media has a strong ability to report on disaster news and the construction of disaster memory. The facts that the media deliberately emphasize can usually form corresponding cognition in the memory of the people, and the construction effect is good. And those memories that are obscured and forgotten are easily conflicted with the memory of the audience and cause certain deviations.Fourth, with the development of online media, audiences have more frequent contacts with various media, and media literacy has gradually improved. In order to gain more recognition of the audience's disaster memory, mainstream media may wish to interact with other types of memory media. For example, literary works complement each other in order to shape a richer and more diverse disaster memory.
