Dell China Inventory Management Improvement Research

Nowadays,with the rapid development of production technology,the advantage of manufacturing enterprises trying to improve their competitiveness by improving technology is gradually diminishing,how to make supply chain management efficient and low cost plays an important role in improving the competitiveness of enterprises. Inventory management is an important part of supply chain management.This thesis introduced Dell,as a multinational enterprise with advanced supply chain management in the industry,has a positive significance to study the inventory management method under its supply chain mode.Combining with classical inventory management theories such as JIT,VMI and so on,this paper analyses the current situation of Dell's supply chain inventory management from the aspects of supplier selection.Firstly,analyst the current situation with demand forecasting,material pull flow,manufacturing inventory control and informatization.According to the present situation of inventory distribution and the main performance indicators of inventory management in the past few quarters,the inventory accuracy and shortage,aging materials and other important indicators,pointed out aging materials has become one of the most important issues of Dell inventory management.Then,combined with internal and external factors,this paper elaborates several main problems existing in Dell's inventory management,and mainly analyses the main causes of sluggish abandoned E&O inventory.This paper puts forward some concrete measures to improve inventory accuracy,optimize inventory management and reduce sluggish inventory by optimizing purchasing plan and PULL material flow,evaluating sluggish waste materials and formulating consumption plan,eliminating inventory uncertainty,controlling process nodes to improve inventory accuracy,tracking large orders and building and deploying IT information system.To reduce inventory costs,improve the utilization of funds,increase cash flow to make some contributions.Finally,the paper summarizes the methods of Dell inventory management,hoping that the experience of Dell's supply chain inventory management can provide a way of thinking and reference for similar domestic enterprises,and bring some inspiration.
