Investigation And Research On Volunteer Service In Public Libraries

The Public Library of Henan Province is a cultural institution that provides public welfare services.It is restricted by personnel preparation,funding and so on,volunteer service introduced to meet the growing needs of readers and their own development.However,the social foundation of volunteer service in Henan public libraries is far from the maturity of coastal public libraries,In addition,the development time is relatively late,although efforts and explorations have been carried out in volunteer services,they still face the dilemma of development,these dilemmas restrict the development of volunteer services in Henan public libraries.therefore,it is particularly important to get out of the predicament and to carry out volunteer services scientifically and effectively.This paper takes the volunteers of public libraries in Henan Province as the survey object,supplemented by interviews with volunteer managers,and discusses the dilemma of the volunteer service of public libraries in Henan Province and the causes of the dilemma through the investigation and analysis,the suggestions for improving the volunteer service of public libraries in Henan Province are put forward.The content of this paper includes six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background,significance,research status at home and abroad,research content,research methods and innovations.The second chapter is related basic theory,defines the main concepts,and expounds the relevant theories of volunteer service.The third chapter is the investigation and analysis of the volunteer service of public libraries in Henan Province.The survey is mainly for volunteers,supplemented by interviews with Library volunteer management staff.To fully understand the overall situation of volunteer services in Henan Provincial Public Libraries.The fourth chapter is about the dilemma of volunteer service in Henan public libraries and the causes of the dilemma.Combined with the investigation in Chapter 3,it is concluded that the library also faces some difficulties in carrying out volunteer services.These dilemmas hindered the development of volunteer services,so by looking for the cause of the dilemma,trying to find the crux of volunteer service from the source.The fifth chapter is to improve the volunteer service of public libraries in Henan Province,and put forward suggestions for improvement in view of the dilemma faced by volunteer services and the causes of difficulties.The sixth chapter is the discussion and summary of this study.The conclusions drawn in this paper are as follows: First,there are differences in the rewards that volunteers expect to receive when they participate in library services.Therefore,when the library rewards volunteers,it is necessary to pay attention to differentiated incentives.Second,the difficulties faced by the volunteer service of public libraries in Henan Province are multifaceted: from the government level,the government's guidance and financial support for public library volunteer services is insufficient;from a social perspective,insufficient social participation and social funding;from the library level,the scope of volunteer services is relatively narrow,and the volunteer service is still not standardized.The assessment of volunteers has not formed a normalization,and the rights and interests of volunteers are not guaranteed;from the perspective of volunteers,lack of volunteer service capabilities.Third,based on the survey and analysis,it is concluded that the promotion of public library volunteer services requires the joint efforts of the government,society,libraries and volunteers to promote the healthy development of volunteer services.
