Ritual Construction And Meaning Production Of Flash Mob

With the deepening of globalization,cultural exchanges are spreading more and more frequently around the world.Building people’s identity has become one of the important issues in the world.In 2019,when People’s Republic of China was founded 70 th anniversary,the series of flash mob of My Motherland and Me led by CCTV attracted much attention and triggered a nationwide relay.With the help of the media represented by the Internet,the flash mob that inspires collective emotional resonance has become a cultural feast of online and offline.Based on the concept of a ritual view of communication proposed by James Carey as a theoretical framework,this paper explores the ritual representation,media ritual and its value manifestation in the flash mob series of My Motherland and Me from a cultural perspective,in order to provide more innovative inspiration for the dissemination of national culture and the construction of belief identity.First of all,from the development history of flash behavior,this paper makes a ritual interpretation of Chinese Flash mob and series of flash mob of My Motherland and Me.Secondly,based on the core characteristics of a ritual view of communication such as "symbol","order","sharing" and "performance",this paper analyzes the ritual behaviors of the flash mob.Then it discusses how to extend the series of flash mob from offline to online with the help of media.Finally,taking the bullet curtain text as an example,this paper analyzes the online reproduction of ritual significance.Through the analysis,it is found that,as a Chinese style flash mob,the series flash mob of My Motherland and Me has the ritual characteristics of performance,anti structure and cohesiveness.It forms a "collective effervescence" through communication.Through the arrangement and application of symbols and the repetitive performance of flash mob,it makes the collective memory and cultural belief in the community be reconstructed and continued.The intervention of media,especially network media,breaks the time and space barriers of traditional rituals,and at the same time produces new ritual elements in interactive communication,sharing culture and belief in a virtual space field.Characterized by flash mob and bullet curtain,youth subculture and mainstream patriotism have achieved dual integration,which also provides new ideas for the cohesion and sharing of national culture and belief.
