Muslim as a marginalized group in our country is not fully understood by others. In Shanghai, a large number of people with different cultural backgrounds and different kinds of lifestyle live together in this city which brings a variety of social problems. Therefore, communicating and mutual understanding between the various groups become an important issue in China’s social transition period.This study tries to learn more about this group and their culture from a communication perspective. Start from Kerry’s the ritual view of communication, this paper intend to learn how Islam, as a cultural system, form a close community. On this basis, to talk about how such a religious and cultural characteristics of groups to maintain the traditional but also some debugging to adapt to urban life in Shanghai.I Study the Jumah in Jiangwan mosque Yangpu District. Jumah is an important ritual for Muslim. The study found that participation in religious activities is very important, It makes clear the role man and God play, it sets up the close relationship between people, specifically, the authority of God and absolute position, the hierarchical relationships of the people and sense of identity cohesion. Meanwhile, in a sharing participation of this community, family, the square, the mosque forms an important structure to form the information delivery systems. While setting up the community, the boundaries with other groups were set up the same time. On one hand, these boundary symbols become characteristics that separated with the other groups, on the other hand, become the symbol of identity of staff in groups. On this basis, paper analysis the Muslim in Shanghai, you can see the loose community relations, information transmission channel changes in the communication system, as well as the disappearance of Islam’s distinguishing boundaries with other groups.
