Long range AUV is a new trend in the development of autonomous underwater robot,and it has the characteristics of simple maintenance,low manufacturing cost,and reusable,the most important is that it can meet the people's requirements for a long time and a wide range of measurement in the vast ocean because of the long duration and long range characteristics.Low speed and high efficiency AUV propulsion device is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China,and it is designed for the development of the long range AUV.Propeller thruster is the most effective way to get the propulsion.Thus this paper focuses on the design of low speed high efficiency AUV propulsion device,then optimizes the design of the propeller by using the lifting line theory,and checks the AUV and propeller by using computational fluid dynamics simulation.The main research contents include:1?Propeller design.According to the shape of AUV and the required speed,the drag of AUV is obtained by calculation and simulation,and it is equal to the thrust produced by the propeller.After getting the thrust and the velocity of the propeller,we use OpenProp designing the propeller,then use SolidWorks modeling.Finally,we verify whether the design of the propeller can meet the design requirements by CFX hydrodynamic simulation software and,namely,we check the strength and the open water efficiency of the propeller.2?Transmission part design.In order to maximize the efficiency of the thruster,we choose the efficient motor and reducer according to the design of the propeller's speed and torque.To deal with the strength condition and sealing problems of the deep pressure hull,we invent the hydraulic compensating device and magnetic coupling driving propeller.3?Matching study between propeller and AUV.Getting the isolated propeller and isolated AUV hull together is the purpose of the studying the interaction between the propeller and the AUV.By using the approximation method,the AUV hull and the propeller are still regarded as isolated,and the propeller is working alone in the flow field after the AUV hull,and the AUV hull is located in the water influenced by the propeller,so that,the isolated propeller and isolated AUV hull is linked,then the simulation results of the open water propeller and the simulation results of the AUV resistance can be applied to the whole system of AUV-propeller.
