The Research And Development Of Marine Radar Echo Simulator

Nowadays radar systems become increasingly diverse and specialized. Because of the different uses of radars, its performance indicators taking the examples of working principle, working method, working wavelength range are not the same, which makes the high cost of field testing in the development process. Therefore, the development of radar echo simulator is required. Radar echo simulator can realistically reproduce the echo signal which contains the information of targets and the surrounding environment on a level of the radar system. Radar echo simulator can play the role of alternative field testing, can greatly reduce the radar system debugging cycle and reduce the cost of testing the radar system.This paper presents a method of the generation of a radar echo video digital sequence which is the core of the software of Marine radar echo video signal simulator. This method generates the radar echo video digital sequence by the way of polar-coordinates scanning according to radar resolution model, radar echo signal model, sea clutter model and noise model. Marine radar echo simulator outputs radar echo video signal by downloading the digital sequence which verify the feasibility of the method. Experimental results show the contribute to echo signal’s characteristics of radar system, also contribute to the radar system parameter optimization designwhich give a great value to improve the radar system performance.
